It wouldn't be fair to post a pic of his brother and not him. This is the White one. The Entertainer of the Family. The Drama Prince. Cattitude for sure.

JUST LIKE NEW!

Well this is a story all about how this little chair came to my house
so I'd like to take a minute just sit right there I'll tell you how it became the chair at my table now.

These chairs were also given to me by my cousin from her Grandmothers home.

Some were in better shape than others but all the lyres were splitting so unfortunately they were not able to be saved.

I began by removing all the seats and sanding them down to their bare nakedness.

Next I decided on a color to stain. I chose an espresso stain.

Now that the stain is on I needed to cut new seats. The originals were also in rough shape.
I bought two 2' x 2' boards from Lowes. Now because I do not have a saw and I would definitely be the one to cut their hands off, I also bought a hand saw to cut the seats. Yeah yeah, I know what your thinking. "No electric saw? What is she doing? Fullfilling her dream of being an Amish woodworker?" Trust me I would have rather had an electric saw but safety first! I know my limits.

I did feel the burn for days though!

Next it was time to upholster the seats. I bought some cushion foam from Hobby Lobby and traced the seat pattern and then cut it out.

I found some beautiful gray and white fabric at Joann's Fabric on the scrap shelf and there just happen to be enough for both seats!

I wouldn't be satisfied with just plain fabric though! I had to add a little AlliD.I.Y flair to the chair!
Sewing Chevron Layers!

Painting the inner sides of the legs and the carving in the back a Blue Steel color add that pop of color I love!

As you can see I plugged the hole where the lyre once was with a decorative iron door handle and added a little Blue Steel color to make it stand out!

After the stain was dry and I added a clear varnish to help protect the stain and wood.
The finished product?

LUSH

CURRENTLY HAVING A LOVE AFFAIR WITH LUSH!

Have you tried their products?  Well I have and I am hooked! Here are a few of my favorites!

Bubble Bars!

French Kiss- The fresh herbal fragrances of lavender, rosemary and thyme with essential oils from the hills of Provence go into the swirly bubble bar that was inspired by the warmth and beauty of the French countryside. It's even topped with a sprig of lavender.

Rose Jam- Based on a decadent traditional Turkish recipe for rose jam.  Rose oil and rose absolute not only smell amazing but they are also fantastic for soothing dry, sensitive skin. The rosy fragrance paired with the coconut oil “icing” that sticks the two halves of this Bubbleroon together make for a majorly moisturizing, softening and luxurious soak

Amandopondo- Scented with rose absolute and a citrus twist of lemon and orange oils to help you forget your worries and clear your conscience.

Bath Bombs!

Sex Bomb-  A must for any romantic bath.  Jasmine, clary sage and ylang ylang are powerful aphrodisiacs that are known to relax you as they warm your heart, and other body parts too. Soya milk makes the water milky, softening your entire body as you enjoy a luxurious soak.

Twilight- With clouds of lavender and tonka absolute to fight the demons of insomnia and soothe your stressed out body and mind.

Phoenix Rising- Royal purple and gold-dusted, with a cinnamon stick in the center, this gorgeous bomb sinks to the bottom of the tub when you toss it in, and slowly rises up, fizzing out a spicy apple and cinnamon scent.

Face Cleanser and Mask

Ultrabland Non-irritating beeswax cleanser

Ultrabland is a thick, rich emulsion of essential oils, honey and beeswax to take off any make up or residue that has built up on your face throughout the day. Unlike most make up removers, Ultrabland leaves your skin feeling soft and nourished, thanks to soothing rosewater and iris flower extract.

Tea Tree Water-  Cleansing tea tree, juniperberry and grapefruit waters keep skin clear of blemishes and balance skin tone. Light and refreshing Tea Tree Water reduces redness and clears excess oil without drying.

Catastrophic Cosmetic- Prevent disasters by taking regular care of your skin with deep-cleansing, nutrient-rich blueberry mask. The little blue bulbs are packed with vitamins, and blended into calamine, rose absolute and chamomile blue oil to soothe redness, irritation and cleanse the skin without stripping it of its natural oils.

Massage Bars!

Wiccy Magic Muscles-  A spicy massage bar for aching muscles. The first time you use one of these, it you’ll notice the sensation of peppermint and cinnamon spice oils which make the skin feel warm and tingly. The red pieces on the top are aduki beans, which work into the muscles like firm fingertips for a relaxing massage.

Each Peach- Brighten up your skin and give yourself a blissful massage with a concentrated citrus fix.  The fruity avocado and mango kernel butters are mixed with Fair Trade cocoa butter and shea butter for an extra nutritious, skin softening treat.

Lip Scrub!

Just like the scrumptious cocktail served in hot southern summers, Mint Julips is packed full of fresh peppermint and sweet castor sugar. Peppermint is responsible for that ‘tingly feeling’ you get after brushing your teeth or using lip balm, so we thought it would make a perfect addition to our lip scrub!

Body Lotion for a Cause!

Charitable cocoa butter cream that keeps on giving

Inside every black pot of Charity Pot is a whole lot more than a creamy body lotion to hydrate parched, dry skin. Of course, it’s filled with the finest ingredients, including Fair Trade organic cocoa butter, and made by hand with love. Not to mention the gorgeous fresh, ylang ylang floral fragrance. What makes it so special? Every penny (yes, every single penny) that you pay for a pot, excluding the tax, goes to fund and support grassroots charities all around the world. You end up with softer, floral-scented skin AND you’re doing a world of good with every pot purchased.

CHEVRON MY LEVEL FLORAL ARRANGEMENT!

This arrangement is sure to bring color and excitement to you room!

You will need to start by selecting the container. I love Chevron patterns and I feel like black and white always "POPS" when splashes of bright colors are added!

I bought this container at Hobby Lobby. There were lots of shapes and sizes with the black and white chevron pattern. I chose a medium square.

Next you will need to select flowers that are both colorful and also compliment one another!

Try these:

Coral Ranunculus

White Hydrangea

Green Hydrangea

Wine Cynara

Green Cymbidium Orchid

Fuchsia Phaleonopsis Orchid

With a hot glue gun, glue down a foam block inside the container.
Start with the Hydrangeas and place them in the container alternating between white and green.
Next add the Dahlias. you can place them together or on opposite ends of the arrangement.
Next add the Ranunculus. They come in stems so you can cut the blooms and buds and use them separately in the arrangement.
Then start working in your Orchid stems. These are great to use as a whole stem because they bend and can be worked around, in between and all around the arrangement.
Last take your Cynaras and stick them sporadically around the arrangement.

TURQUOISE OWL BOOKENDS!

This is a special project to me. I love my family the mostest. These golden owls were given to me by my cousin after her grandmother passed. I love, love, love owls and these were in a line up to go into a garage sale! Not on my watch! I don't really have anything blingy gold in my décor but thought surly I can fit these guys in my collection somehow! And I did!

I chose Turquoise because it makes me happy! I bought the Valspar spray paint at Lowes.

Since there is quite a bit of texture on the owls from the feathers, I thought it could be a neat texture effect to have some color variation. I used a medium grade sand paper to go lightly over the edges of the feathers to let a little gold shine through.

All finished and ready to be a special family keepsake as well as some stylish bookends!
